David Cullen

Born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, David grew up in a hockey family. Having three uncles, a cousin all play in the NHL, he had hockey in the bloodlines. He played AAA hockey growing up all and at the age of 15 he transitioned to Junior B playing for the Thorold Blackhawks. After three years playing Junior B, David accepted a full scholarship to the University of Maine. In David's senior year he was captain of the NCAA Division 1 National Champion Maine Black Bears. During his time at Maine, David was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, was named Hockey East first team All-Star and was an NCAA First Team All American.

His final four years of professional hockey were spent playing in Dusseldorf Germany in the Elite German league, for Farjestad, FBK in the Swedish Elite league, Syracuse Crunch in the AHL and then finishing his career in Austria playing in the Austrian Elite League for the Graz 99ers.
David has had the opportunity to play for and learn from many of the games best coaches such as Shawn Walsh, Grant Standbrook, Todd McLellan, Jacques Lemaire, Lindy Ruff, Randy Cunneyworth, Greg Cronin, Doug Houda, Rick Bowness and Ron Wilson, among many others.
After retirement from hockey in 2010 David earned his masters in education as well as established his own hockey development business in the Niagara Region in Canada. David Cullen Hockey opened in 2011 providing players south of Toronto with many various opportunities to improve their game. DC hockey offers many different programs such as skills camps, defense camps, goal scoring camps, body checking clinics, summer camps, a 32 team 3 on 3 full ice league in the Spring to name a few. David has been in charge of hockey development in Niagara on the Lake for 12 years while also performing many different development skates for various organizations since 2011.
David has also coached all levels of hockey including four years of AAA coaching in the Niagara Region. He has seen many of his former players drafted to the OHL and also earn College/University scholarships.
David is excited about the opportunity to come to the DFW to work with players of all ages and abilities to improve their games.
